Christmas Open Studios and Unique Shopping Events

Starting tomorrow London is set to burst into life with a number of Christmas open studios and unique ‘not on the high street’ shopping events. So if you're looking to make a few original Crimbo purchases this year I'd suggest making a point of getting yourself to one of the following events...

Made in Clerkenwell: Winter Open Studios, 24 - 27 November 2011, with Friday late night shopping. 33-35 St John’s Square London EC1M 4DS and 21 Clerkenwell Green, London EC1R 0DX.

Step out and unearth a hot bed of cutting edge craft and design. This Christmas Craft Central opens its doors with Made In Clerkenwell - a unique shopping event, offering an intriguing ‘behind the scenes' chance to explore the studios and mingle with the community of renowned designers.

It’s a magnificent opportunity to pick up distinctive pieces from 100+ designers, one ticket allows unlimited access over the 4 days, including Thursday’s launch event and Friday’s late night shopping. Admission: £2.50 per person, under 16’s free

Cockpit Arts: Christmas Open Studios, 25-27 November 2011, Cockpit Yard, Northington St, London, WC1N 2NP and 2-4 December 2011 and 18-22 Creekside, London, SE8 3DZ.

At Cockpit Arts 165 talented designers beaver away to create some seriously stylish fashion accessories, jewellery, and homewares.  Head over to take a peek behind the scenes of this intriguing social enterprise, make a few Crimbo purchases and be safe in the knowledge that you’ve also helped a good cause. All the proceeds from this fundraising event go directly to help support designer-makers. Entry is £5 for a joint ticket or £3 for Deptford only; it’s free for children under 15 and at Deptford on Friday 2 December.

Christmas Attractions include:
- Heal’s Christmas Picks – gorgeous gift ideas
- Paper-cut Stories – workshops for kids by Sian Zeng and Bookery
- Prize Draw – win a set of bespoke tree decorations by makers
- Mulled wine and organic winter pies by Hand Made Food

The Merry Magpie Christmas Boutique is organised by the lovely Patchwork Harmony and is being held this Saturday 26th November 2011 from 12pm-4pm at The Book Club,100 Leonard St, London, EC2A 4RH. 

As well as stalls laden with gifts, homewares, clothing & accessories, jewellery and baked goods, Lynne from Papermash will also be running a gift wrapping stall - have a go at wrapping your goodies with some of her lovely stationery

There’s a makeup, nails and massage area, so you can pamper yourself in between shopping! And of course enjoy a festive drink and try your luck on our tombola.

On Sunday, check out Got Craft in Tooting Broadway, an indie craft fair supporting all things handmade. Open November 27th 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m, at the Tooting Tram and Social, 46-48 Mitcham Road, London SW17 9NA.

And finally Shop, craft, dance and make merry at the BUST magazine Christmas Craftacular, with over 70 stalls of the hottest in handmade, DJs, drinks and DIY workshops. On Sunday November 27 2011, 12pm-6pm York Hall, 5-15 Old Ford Road, London E2 9PJ.
