We love Hazel Stark

One of Hazel's beautiful hand printed cushions
Hazel Stark is just starting out as a surface designer but to look at her work you'd hardly know it. I had the pleasure of meeting her in the Creative Clerkenwell pop-up shop during Clerkenwell Design Week. You only need to glance at her current collection to realise she has a glittering career ahead of her.

Key features of her work are the bold geometric patterns which she hand prints using silk screen printing and water based non-toxic ink.

She mixes all her own colours and prints them onto organic cotton and paper to create wonderful things like the screen print shown below (it was originally a test for one of her cushion designs!) buttons and greetings cards.

Hazel studied Fine Art BA and then Contemporary Craft MA at Falmouth College of Arts in Cornwall. In her own words she has: “assisted some talented designers, worked at inspiring places, learnt a lot” and is now establishing herself in her own right. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!
